Finally a new update! More Paintings.

Finally got the time to put up a pretty up to date selection of the paintings I've been doing the last 3 months. In this includes probably some of my worst and best paintings. Starting from painting number one up through thirty three, with plenty more to come.

I am going to be starting to actually spend more then two hours on these and to try to start getting them to a more finished look. That is my goal.

While some of these paintings were done from life, or photos taken myself, some of these practice portraits were done using photo reference from other artists (burdick, wiestling, lipking and coupon) in my attempts to learn something from them.

I would love to hear some feed back about any of them. Thanks.

Paintings

Instead of posting the new paintings as they go, which on the site actually ends up being backwards then (having to start at the bottom and go up to see the newest) I'm going to put it in a slide show form, and just add to it when new ones are up.

So here are five weeks worth of paintings. Remember these are only two hours, so I always run short on time so they are basically all way unfinished.

New mentor new paintings!

Sometime near the beginning of February I started painting under an excellent local artist named, Jesse Drapper. As part of this deal I am required to do twelve 6x8in. paintings each two hours long. Everything is all oils using a limited palette of four colors.

Another girl oil painting photo reference

This was a quick one session oil painting from a photo I found on the SA forums.

Christ status oil painting

A 30x40in. in oils. After the lion painting I wanted to get away from the tight painting style I was doing, and so I did this. Looking back on it now its still to tight for what I was going for.

Lion oil photo copy

A 30x40in oil painting from a photo of a statue I found on flickr. The last photo is really out of date and have since worked on it for about another 10 hours. But I stopped working on it, and probably will never touch it again. I will try to take a newer photo.

Girl profile oil original

An original oil painting that was done for a good friends art show, which was a fund raising benefit towards Huntington's disease.
